East Suffolk Council Building Control Team
Name Description
Mark Harvey, Building Control Partnership Manager I have always had a keen interest in construction and started my career as a labourer. I worked in many forms of construction across all sectors, from which I developed practical skills and an in depth understanding of construction. I was given the opportunity of becoming a Building Control Technician at Waveney District Council in 2004. This committed me to a period of extensive training over 8 years to become a fully chartered construction professional. Further opportunity and my extensive experience enabled me to become a Building Control Team Leader in 2012. At this time I managed the Waveney Building Control Office and began to build my own team looking to the future as part of the newly emerging East Suffolk partnership with Suffolk Coastal District Council.
Emily Bowman, Area Building Control Surveyor I have been in the property industry since leaving school, working firstly in sales then moving into property valuation and then construction. Having worked for large public companies, small independents and most recently the local authority I have developed a good understanding of the various challenges and opportunities that can be encountered in this sector. I am currently studying to achieve my degree in Building Control. Having already achieved qualifications in domestic and small commercial properties, this enables me to work on the larger projects such as high risk and high rise.
